Breakfast. We head to Weimar. A Christmas market set against the backdrop of the historic Town Hall, with a view of St. Peter and Paul’s Church, offering mulled wine, Thuringian specialties, handicrafts, and the nostalgic magic of festive lights. Weimar—a city of cultural and musical giants—Goethe, Schiller, the Bauhaus, Liszt’s music, and classical architecture. We offer a tour accompanied by a local Russian-speaking guide (for an additional fee of 15 €). During the tour, we’ll see Schiller’s House, the Anna Amalia Library, the National Theater, Goethe’s House…
Weimar’s Old Town, with its charmingly restored squares, alleys, and neoclassical facades, is a special setting for the Christmas season. In the evening, we’ll head to a hotel in the Erfurt area. Overnight at the hotel.

Breakfast. We offer an optional excursion (for an additional fee of 40 €) titled “In the Footsteps of UNESCO Heritage – Medieval Charm and Opulent Baroque.” We head toward the city of Eisenach. Towering above the city is the impressive Wartburg Castle, which was once visited by King Ludwig II of Bavaria and inspired him to build his dream castle, Neuschwanstein.
Due to its eventful history, Wartburg Castle is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Saint Elizabeth of Thuringia spent part of her life at Wartburg Castle; traces of her work can still be felt in some of the castle’s rooms. In the Middle Ages, the Minnesinger contests were also held at the castle…
Take a stroll through the town of Eisenach and soak up its magic. The impressive St. George’s Church on the market square, where, according to tradition, Johann Sebastian Bach was baptized and Martin Luther served as a pastor. The narrowest half-timbered building in Germany, and the town’s narrow, winding streets. The ancient St. Nicholas Gate marks the entrance to the once-fortified medieval town and is the oldest surviving city gate in Thuringia.
Next, we head to Gotha—a city home to one of the most beautiful Baroque palaces in Germany: Friedensstein Palace. With its magnificent architecture, it is one of the most significant centers of art and culture.
The center of Gotha—the Buttermarkt—features cozy cafes and restaurants, as well as the historic Town Hall. You’ll have the chance to enjoy a Gotha specialty—the Gotha Kranz (a ring-shaped pastry)—and visit the Augustinian church and monastery. After such a full day, we’ll return to our hotel near Erfurt. Overnight at the hotel.

The city bustles with activity during the day, while in the evening you’ll feel the Christmas spirit and a peaceful atmosphere… Enjoy the city’s ambiance on a leisurely stroll through the streets.
