Terms and Conditions
Last updated: October 2026. Items in [square brackets] must be completed by Mari Travel before publication.
1. About these Terms
These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") apply to every booking made with Mari Travel through mari.travel, by phone, email, messenger (Telegram, WhatsApp, Viber) or at our offices. By making a booking, you confirm that you have read, understood and accepted these Terms on behalf of yourself and every traveller in your booking.
If your trip is a package travel contract, your rights under Directive (EU) 2015/2302 and Latvian Cabinet Regulation No. 591 on package travel apply in full. Nothing in these Terms limits those statutory rights.

3. Definitions
- "We", "us", "Mari Travel" — Mari Daugavpils Pilsetas SIA.
- "You", "the Client" — the person who makes the booking and pays for it.
- "Traveller" — every person named in the booking.
- "Tour" — any travel service we sell: group bus tours, flight tours, cruises, last-minute offers, spa and sanatorium stays, medical tourism trips and custom itineraries.
- "Package" — a combination of at least two types of travel services (e.g. transport and accommodation) for the same trip, as defined by Directive (EU) 2015/2302.
- "Third-party supplier" — an airline, cruise line, hotel, clinic, carrier or other provider whose service we sell or include in a Tour.
4. Booking and contract
- You can request or book a Tour online at mari.travel, by phone, by messenger or at our offices.
- A booking request or an item in the website cart is not yet a contract. The contract is concluded when we confirm the booking in writing (email or messenger) and receive the deposit or full payment.
- Before you book, we provide the standard pre-contractual information required by law, including the itinerary, services included, total price and the standard information form for package travel.
- You must be at least 18 years old to book. You are responsible for giving correct names (exactly as in the passport), dates of birth and contact details for every traveller. Corrections after ticketing may incur supplier charges.
- Minors travelling without both parents need the documents required by Latvian law and the destination country (e.g. notarised parental consent).
- Group Tours depend on a minimum number of participants, stated in the Tour description. If the minimum is not reached, see section 8.
5. Prices
- Prices are shown in euros (EUR) per person and include VAT where applicable.
- The Tour description states exactly what is included. Unless stated otherwise, prices do not include travel insurance, visa fees, city and tourist taxes paid locally, optional excursions, meals not listed, tips and personal expenses.
- Single room supplements, seat selection, extra luggage and similar extras are charged separately as stated at booking.
- After the contract is concluded, we may increase the price only if it results from changes in fuel or other transport costs, taxes or fees imposed by third parties, or exchange rates relevant to the Tour. We will notify you on a durable medium at least 20 days before departure, with the reason and calculation.
- If a price increase exceeds 8% of the total price, you may accept it or cancel the contract without a termination fee. You are equally entitled to a price reduction if those costs fall.
- Obvious errors in prices on the website (e.g. a technical mistake) do not bind us. We will contact you and offer the correct price or a full refund.
6. Payment
- Unless the Tour description states otherwise, a deposit of [30]% of the total price is due at booking.
- The balance is due no later than [30] days before departure. Bookings made less than [30] days before departure, last-minute offers and cruises must be paid in full at booking, unless agreed otherwise.
- You can pay online by card through the website, by bank transfer to the account in your invoice, or [in cash at our offices].
- If you do not pay the balance on time, we may cancel the booking after a reminder and charge the cancellation fees in section 7.
- Travel documents (vouchers, tickets, boarding information) are sent after full payment.
7. Changes and cancellation by you
- You may cancel at any time before departure by notifying us in writing (email or messenger). The cancellation date is the day we receive your notice.
- Unless the Tour description sets other terms, the following cancellation fees apply, calculated from the total Tour price:
Days before departure | Cancellation fee |
|---|---|
60 or more | Deposit is retained (max [30]%) |
59–30 | [50]% |
29–15 | [75]% |
14 or fewer, or no-show | 100% |
- Air tickets, cruises, last-minute offers and other services with non-refundable supplier terms are charged at the actual supplier cost, which may be up to 100% from the moment of booking. We state this before you book.
- You may cancel without any fee if unavoidable and extraordinary circumstances at the destination or its immediate vicinity significantly affect the Tour (e.g. war, natural disaster, an official travel warning). You then receive a full refund, but no additional compensation.
- You may transfer your booking to another person who meets all Tour conditions, by notifying us at least 7 days before departure. You and the new traveller are jointly liable for any balance and the actual costs of the transfer.
- Changes you request after booking (dates, names, room type) depend on availability and may incur supplier charges plus our service fee of [EUR amount].
- The 14-day right of withdrawal for distance contracts does not apply to travel and leisure services booked for specific dates, in line with the Latvian Consumer Rights Protection Law.
- Refunds due to you are paid within 14 days of cancellation.
8. Changes and cancellation by Mari Travel
- We may make minor changes to a Tour (e.g. order of sightseeing, an equivalent hotel of the same category) and will inform you clearly.
- If we must significantly change a main feature of the Tour or increase the price by more than 8%, we will notify you without delay. You can accept the change, choose a substitute Tour if offered, or cancel without a fee and receive a full refund within 14 days.
We may cancel a Tour and give a full refund without further compensation if:
- the minimum number of participants is not reached and we notify you at least 20 days before a trip of more than 6 days, 7 days before a trip of 2–6 days, or 48 hours before a trip of less than 2 days; or
- unavoidable and extraordinary circumstances prevent us from performing the contract, and we notify you without undue delay.
- If services cannot be provided as agreed during the Tour, we will offer suitable alternatives at no extra cost or an appropriate price reduction.
9. Specific types of travel
- Bus tours. Departure points, times and seat allocation are confirmed in your travel documents. The bus waits no longer than [15] minutes at stops. Travellers who miss departure travel to the next point at their own cost.
- Flight tours. Flight times are set by the airline and may change. Baggage allowances follow the airline's rules.
- Cruises. The cruise line's terms of carriage, onboard rules, document requirements and its own cancellation terms apply in addition to these Terms.
- Last-minute offers. Sold at reduced prices with limited availability; they are usually non-refundable once confirmed.
- Spa, sanatorium and medical tourism. Medical services are provided by independent clinics licensed in the destination country. Mari Travel organises travel and accommodation only and gives no medical advice. You are responsible for consulting your doctor, disclosing your health condition to the clinic and accepting the clinic's own terms.
10. Passports, visas and health
- Each traveller must hold a valid passport or ID card, and any visa, entry permit or health document required by the destination and transit countries. We provide general information on these requirements for EU citizens before booking; citizens of other countries must check with the relevant embassy.
- We are not liable if a traveller is refused boarding or entry because of missing or invalid documents. Costs arising from this are borne by the traveller.
11. Travel insurance
We strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance covering medical expenses, repatriation, cancellation and baggage. We can arrange insurance on request. Without cancellation insurance, cancellation fees in section 7 are your own cost.
12. Your responsibilities during the Tour
- Follow the instructions of the tour leader, guide and carriers, and respect local laws, customs and the rules of hotels, ships and vehicles.
- Arrive on time at meeting points and departures.
- You are liable for damage you cause to third parties or to property during the Tour.
- We may exclude from the Tour, without refund, a traveller whose behaviour seriously disrupts the group or endangers others.
13. Our liability
- We are responsible for the performance of all travel services included in a Package, whether provided by us or by third-party suppliers.
- You are entitled to a price reduction for any period of non-conformity, and to compensation for damage resulting from it, unless the non-conformity is attributable to you, to an unconnected third party and is unforeseeable or unavoidable, or to unavoidable and extraordinary circumstances.
- Where international conventions (e.g. Montreal Convention for air travel, Athens Convention for sea travel) limit a supplier's liability, our liability is limited in the same way. Except for personal injury or damage caused intentionally or by gross negligence, our liability is limited to three times the total Tour price.
- If you are in difficulty during the Tour, we provide appropriate assistance without delay, including information on health services, local authorities and consular help.
- For stand-alone services (e.g. only a ticket or only a hotel) that do not form a Package, the supplier is responsible for performing the service and its own terms apply.
14. Insolvency protection
Mari Travel holds insolvency protection as required for package travel organisers. If we become insolvent, payments you have made are refunded and, where transport is included, your repatriation is secured. Guarantee provider: [name of bank or insurer], contact: [phone, email].
15. Complaints
- If you notice a problem during the Tour, tell the tour leader or contact us immediately at +371 29247110 so we can fix it on the spot. Late notice may reduce your right to a price reduction or compensation.
- Written complaints after the Tour can be sent to europemari1@gmail.com or delivered to our offices. We reply within 30 days.
- If we cannot resolve a dispute, you may contact the Consumer Rights Protection Centre of Latvia (PTAC), www.ptac.gov.lv, or its Consumer Dispute Resolution Committee.
16. Use of the website
- Tour descriptions, photos and prices on mari.travel are prepared carefully but are for information until confirmed in your booking. Photos may be illustrative.
- All website content, including texts, images and design, belongs to Mari Travel or its licensors. Copying it without written permission is not allowed.
- We process personal data as described in our Privacy Policy and use cookies as described in our Cookie Policy.
17. Governing law and disputes
These Terms and every contract with Mari Travel are governed by the laws of the Republic of Latvia. Disputes are resolved by negotiation first and, failing that, by the courts of the Republic of Latvia. If you are a consumer living in another EU country, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country of residence.
18. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The version published on mari.travel on the day of your booking applies to your contract.
